Our Story

Arthur Clarke Bennett • 2026-03-06 • Reviewed by Ethan Collins

PolicyLine was launched by Northbridge Digital Media Ltd (company number 14892736) to fill a gap we saw in UK digital publishing: clear, sourced explainers on the subjects that shape daily life. From public-policy changes and consumer-finance decisions to developments in technology, health and lifestyle, we recognised that readers often face coverage that is either dense or partisan. Our aim is straightforward — to produce journalism that explains how something works, what it means and why it matters, without spin or exaggeration.

Accuracy before speed, and transparency as a default.

The site is led by Editor-in-Chief Eleanor Whitcombe, who has spent more than a dozen years in digital publishing and public-affairs reporting. Under her direction, every article is produced by a named writer, then goes through editorial review for structure and clarity, followed by a dedicated fact-checking stage. Key claims, figures and dates are verified against primary and reputable secondary sources before any piece is approved for publication. Our fact-checking lead, Megan Ellis, oversees this process to keep it consistent.

Our newsroom is small but experienced. Daniel Mercer manages day-to-day operations; Amara Collins leads policy coverage; James Hartwell covers consumer finance; Priya Shah edits health and lifestyle; and Oliver Reed oversees technology. Each editor works with writers to maintain a calm, professional tone — no hype, no clickbait and no rushed takes.

We are committed to getting things right, and when we do not, we correct promptly. Errors can be reported to corrections@policyline.uk, and material corrections are accompanied by a visible correction note. We also use AI-assisted tools for research organisation, drafting, summarisation or editing, but these never replace editorial judgement: every published article is reviewed by a human editor before it goes live. PolicyLine is independent, based in London, and accountable to its readers — not to any party, lobby or agenda.
